Wellness Mama started out as a blog founded by Katie Wells. When she had her first son, Katie read that his generation had a lower life expectancy than hers. That started her on a journey of research into healthy lifestyle practices from household cleaners to beauty products to, of course, food. She also overcame her own health issues holistically.
Now with six kids, she knows all about the chaos of putting on a meal for a family as a busy mom. A very busy mom, as she has written over 1,200 blog posts and two books, including a cookbook. She’s been named one of the top 100 influencers in the health and wellness sphere, and called a thought leader for the current generation of moms. Katie is also a nutrition coach and birth doula to boot.
What started out as just a one woman operation has turned into a full team of professionals working on site including medical advisors and experts that fact check every single post. She also recently joined forces with Heather of Mommypotomus, and these two are sure to be an unstoppable duo in the wellness community.
Wellness Mama has about 450 recipes in the Real Plans recipe box, all grain-free, dairy optional, and kid approved. Recipes like meatloaf cupcakes with sweet potato frosting, a fun way to get some hearty protein and veggies into your kids.
And there are a whole slew of dessert recipes in the Real Plan recipe box that you don’t have to feel guilty about. Like a grain-free carrot cake with no added sugar, mostly fruit sweetened, and full of eggs for a hearty dose of protein with dessert. Or probiotic sugar-free marshmallows, that will not only get probiotics into them but also gut-healing gelatin.
Katie wants to harness the power of women and moms to change the health of the world by giving them healthy alternatives, arming them with knowledge and recipes for food, beauty, and household products. Moms control how the majority of food dollars are spent, and feed and teach the next generation, so they have tremendous power.
Katie started Wellness Mama to provide a healthy lifestyle for her children, and her recipes will help you do the same for yourself and your family. They will help you to also become a Wellness Mama, so that being “just a mom” can help change the world.
